I am Christian Nissen and I love using blogs, to get people that have something in common together!  I am NOT a representative of the Nedis company nor am I employed or paid by them. Therefore the blog is freestanding from Nedis and free to write about both positive and negative findings, both critisism and appraisal.

IOT´s is the generic name for InternetOfThings and its devices. Nedis supplies IOT´s under the trademark SmartLife. There are many different types, like cameras, sensors, net-plugs, heaters, AC´s, lamps a.o. and ever more to come. Nedis IOT´s usually does not speak to other vendors of IOT´s, like Philips, Samsung, Apple a.o. This means that a Nedis alarm-sensor can only activate a Nedis lamp or sound-alarm. Most vendors uses this strategy to make customers buy ONLY their products as long as they can.

Sooner or later there is always pressure from users to make different makes work together, as usually not just one maker has ALL the functions desired of users. This is solved by a standard. There is no standard for IOT´s yet. But there is serious work done by “the Matter-standard Alliance” , with hundreds members like Apple, Samsung, Amazon, Google, Texas Instruments, Huawei, Axis, Assa Abloy, D-link, LG, IKEA, Panasonic, Bosch, Siemens, Tesla, TP-links, Tuya, Xiaomi and Z-wave. However Nedis uses as OEM the Tuya app for its IOT´s Nedis which is perhaps why they have NOT choosen (yet) to participate. While waiting for the standard to be agreed and take effect. The Tuya app and the implementation by Nedis is as close as one can come to a “de facto standard”.

This blog is meant to gather users of Nedis IOT´s, to share their aggregate knowledge as support of tips and tricks, as well as warn for bugs and show how to work around them.

Also its meant to be a contact surface to Nedis for reporting of systematic bugs, that many users experience, thus giving weight towards Nedis to correct them.

This is my 8:th blog. All my blogs are listed below.
